Starting from

If you’re at the beginning of your instructor journey, we recommend starting with our Scent Instructor Pathway, delivered in partnership with the Scent Instructors Network (SIN).

  • This pathway includes:
  • Introductory workshops and foundation skills training
  • Business support, resources, and mentoring (optional)
  • Flexible progression with no tie-in — you choose how far you want to go


A £10 monthly fee applies after qualification to maintain your UKSS Instructor status. This includes your Instructor Map listing, access to resources, use of the UKSS logo/paperwork, and permission to teach and assess the Mini Trail League.

  • 2-Day Detection Instructor Foundation Course (introducing odour, handling skills, shaping chaining etc)
  • Followed by a Homework Period

  •  to qualify as a UKSS Detection Instructor
